Parker Butler

I’ve been obsessed with happily-ever-afters for as long as I can remember. I can recall the days when I would pull my mother’s wedding dress out of her closet and twirl in it for hours while I imagined my own Prince Charming sweeping me off my feet. Fast forward 15 years, and not much has changed. So, it’s not hard to believe that I was elated to find out I’d be interning for the digital editorial team at The Knot as part of my internship.

From the moment I walked into the office, my 5-year-old self was beaming at the glamorous world behind the wedding magazine I had known and loved for so many years. I was put to work on day one, writing news articles and Pinterest pieces on topics ranging from floral wedding bouquets and ring bearer signs to rugged groom fashion (oh yes, it’s a thing!). I attended fancy PR events and help interview high-profile clients like Rachel Zoe – and who can forget to mention Thirsty Thursdays in the office! However, my trips to Kleinfeld Bridal were probably the highlight of my summer. Being an avid watcher of “Say Yes To The Dress,” the chance to walk through Kleinfeld’s doors and try on their gorgeous bridal gowns was a dream come true.

Even without all of the “perks,” working as the digital editorial intern for TheKnot.com was incredible. My day-to-day schedule never repeated itself. I learned what it takes to be a part of the digital side of a magazine publication. It’s constantly changing, and you have to be a little faster than you were the day before when it comes to publishing content. By the end of the summer, I would definitely consider myself an expert in all things weddings, but I learned so much more than what goes into writing a “happily ever after.” I now know what it takes to a part of a team that has the utmost pride in being there for their readers' biggest life moments.
